Iām committed to ongoing research and training in order to stay creative and cutting-edge in my treatment.
My Background
I started in the mental health field in 2013 as a wilderness therapy field instructor for adolescents and young adults. Since 2013, I have worked in mentoring and clinical roles in wilderness therapy, a therapeutic boarding school, a college counseling center, addiction recovery inpatient and intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an Addictions Counseling Certificate from Appalachian State University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor.
My Approach
My approach is rooted in the belief that whatever patterns may be keeping you stuck at this time (e.g. substance use, reactivity in relationships, perfectionistic tendencies, eating issues, shutting down or avoiding, anxiety, or depression) were at one time adaptive and served a positive purpose for you and your nervous system. We will honor how these patterns developed while discovering new and updated ways of responding to your world. As a therapist, I collaborate with you to discover how you can safely and compassionately welcome all parts of yourself as you resolve trauma. We will work together to find flexibility, creativity, trust, and vitality in your relationships with yourself and others.
My Training
I have formal training in the following:
Trauma-focused Psychedelic-assisted Psychotherapy
Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR
Gestalt Therapy
And informal training in the following:
Internal Family Systems
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
More About Me
Outside of work, I enjoy trail running, mountain biking, skiing, traveling and hosting travelers, and getting plugged in to local community events when possible. I am deeply committed to my personal therapeutic journey and am continuously involved in personal growth opportunities. Therapy is my passion and calling.
